Reading Strategies that Work

Cathy Postell, C.A.L.P.

I am a Certified Academic Language Practitioner trained to address the specific language needs of students with dyslexia. I grew up in Nashville and graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a B.S. in Special Education. After graduation, I taught in special education resource classrooms in Cumberland and Wilson counties for four years.

While at Tennessee Tech, I met my husband Jeff.  In 1994 we moved to Mt. Juliet and have been there ever since. We have three daughters who we homeschooled from preschool through high school.

Throughout our homeschool journey, I have taught students from kindergarten through high school in co-ops and tutorials. For ten years, I served as the coordinator for Legacy Family Academy, a homeschool co-op/tutorial which I founded with a few other families in Mt. Juliet.

Since 2019, I have been in private practice serving students in struggle with reading, spelling, and writing. I especially enjoy watching students unlock the mystery of letters and words and discover the joy of  reading.  Contact me for more information or to schedule an informal screening.
